Miramichi Sandstone

Miramichi Sandstone is a trade name that refers to sandstone quarried in a number of quarries located along the Miramichi River, of which the French Fort Cove and Quarryvile quarries are the most popular.  This stone can be found on historical buildings from Toronto to Quebec City, some of which include the Langevain Block which is the parliamentary building across from Parliament Hill in our Nation’s capital where the Prime Minister of Canada’s office is located, as well as numerous buildings in Toronto and Montreal.  It is an olive color of medium-fine grained sandstone.
